Norton Internet Security 2008 installed easy and also done a decent job of protecting our computer from viruses, trojans, rootkits and all other Internet related threats.
When we first review software, we visit sites such as CNET and PC Magazine to get their opinions as well as the members, then we try the software ourselves and compare our results. Here is what we got.
Both CNET and PC Magazine rated Norton Internet Security 2008 an average 7 out of 10. When we reviewed the members ratings, we got an average 2 out of 10. Curious as to why members rated Norton so low, we had to test it ourselves and likewise, we would have rated Norton a 3 out 10 and here's why.
Norton uses a lot of system resources. If you don't have much memory, you will notice your computer bogging down when it is performing a scan. The support was terrible as it is based in India and they can't seem to understand very well and constantly repeat questions.
The worst part was uninstalling Norton Internet Security from our computer. Since the uninstalling process created so many problems among users, they had to create an uninstall tool to remove all the files from the computer. Even after this, our system continued to give us error messages as well as periodically run slow.
Good Things About Norton Internet Security
Bad Things About Norton Internet Security
Based on our tests and the reviews of hundreds of others, we do not recommend Norton Internet Security 2008. Although it protects well and has a nice graphical control panel, the issues we faced outweighs the good features. The 2 products we highly recommend would be PCSecurity Shield Internet or Trend Micro Internet Security.
